Unfortunately, she begins to suspect that one of her suitors might be a deadly cyber stalker. Network: MTV

Where you can watch it: MTV.com, Hulu

My review: *Spoiler Free*

Eye Candy is one of those shows that takes a while to get used to. When I first started watching I thought the acting was terrible and that the storyline was all too familiar and unoriginal. However, my opinion started to change about 4 episodes in. The story starts focusing less on the "Cyber Stalker" and Lindy becomes more of a private detective for missing persons. As we get further into the season the more we get to learn about each of the characters and their background.
Lindy's character does tend to bother me at times. The way she tends to take charge and make decisions without keeping other people's safety in mind feels a bit repetitive. I am also not a huge fan of Jake Bolin either, I feel that he doesn't serve a purpose in the show besides being Lindy's love interest.
The show is most definitely not for everyone as it is quite gruesome and intense.
I also really like the soundtrack a lot! I like going to Eye Candy's spotify and seeing what songs were in that night's episode.
Overall I am enjoying the show as whole and I find that I like each episode even more.

Eye Candy comes on every Monday on 9/8c

Book Review: The DUFF By Kody Keplinger

Synopsis:

Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper is cynical and loyal, and she doesn’t think she’s the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She’s also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her “the Duff,” she throws her Coke in his face.

But things aren’t so great at home right now, and Bianca is desperate for a distraction. She ends up kissing Wesley. Worse, she likes it. Eager for escape, Bianca begins to spend more time with him.

Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out Wesley isn’t such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. Suddenly Bianca realizes with absolute horror that she’s falling for the guy she thought she hated more than anyone.

Where you can buy it: Amazon, Barnes & Noble

My Review:

Honestly, I have no idea where to even begin with this book. I had picked it up because I was in the middle of reading Clockwork princess and it was getting really, really depressing. Naturally I picked up something that would be light-hearted and funny. I had heard "The DUFF" was good and plus the movie comes out this Friday so I thought I would give it a try. It took me about half a day to read it and in my opinion the second half is way better than the first half.

The first ten chapters made the book seem like it was going nowhere and the characters and their motives had made me so annoyed I thought I was going to give the book two stars. The story was progressing so slowly and I was expecting the book to be similar to what I've seen of the movie, but the book is nothing like the movie at all (or at least from what I can tell). The book is more about the relationship between Wesley and Bianca, not once does she attempt to not be a "DUFF" or resort to Wesley for helping not be a "DUFF".  I am not sure whether I will like the book better or the movie considering they are not similar what so ever.

Bianca was so irritating. Her constant whining and negativity was just plain annoying and I will admit by the end of the book she did shape up to be a better character but I found myself hating her for the decisions that she made.

Wesley was a little less bothersome, although I very much disliked his womanizing personality, I found him to be a likable character within the second half of the book.
Despite the character flaws, I enjoy the connection the two of them have and the fact that they understand each other like no one else can makes me admire their relationship even though I did not approve of their relationship in the beginning of the book.

I did enjoy the humorous and witty personality that Bianca had.

“Your sense of humor needs some work, then,' Wesley suggested. 'Most girls find my jokes charming.'

'Those girls must have IQs low enough to trip over.”

I did feel satisfied in the end although I do wish that we had more time to be with Bianca and Wesley. I felt like the the end was just a tiny bit rushed.

Overall, I did most certainly enjoy this book, I just had expected more from it considering all the hype that surrounded it. It was just not as relatable to me or my situation. But for those who are planning on watching the movie this Friday, I would recommend reading the book before seeing it.
